Cass Sargent Weil, Retired Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.
Mr. Weil decided to pursue law after working at a bail reform program at his local county jail. There, he witnessed an unfair system. He was inspired to do everything in his power to reform it entirely. After earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University at Stony Brook, State University of New York, he relocated to the William Mitchell College of Law. There, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence with cum laude honors in 1980. He was subsequently certified to practice in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as the 7th and 8th Circuits of the United States Court of Appeals.
As a certified bankruptcy law specialist, Mr. Weil quickly found success in legal work. He began his career as an associate at JR Kotts & Associates in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the following years, he made partner and brought his skills to several law firms, including Zohlmann & Weil, Peterson, Franke, & Riach, and O’Connor & Hannan. His ultimate position was as a partner at Moss & Barnett, where he remained from 1994 until his retirement in 2015.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Weil was given the Leading American Attorney Award from the American Research Corporations four times prior to 2000, and then annually from 2002 until 2012. He has also been listed among Minnesota’s Top Lawyers in Minneapolis by St. Paul Magazine. As a further testament to his success, he is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
