Evangeline Swift, Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
With nearly 40 years of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Swift most recently found success as a management consultant from 1997 to 2003 and as the president of the Federal Circuit Bar Association from 1992 to 1997. Throughout her career, she served many prestigious organizations, including the Office of Economic Opportunity, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, the latter of which she founded in 1979. In addition, she served as a partner at Swift & Swift PC from 1977 to 1979 and garnered early experience as an attorney for the Interstate Commerce Commission. A strong proponent of equality, she has been an active member of her community, serving as a board member of the Santa Fe Interfaith Homeless Shelter since 2017, among numerous further volunteer affiliations. Among her myriad achievements, Ms. Swift considers the highlight of her career to be becoming the president of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
In preparation for her legal career, Ms. Swift attended the University of California Los Angeles, and she subsequently completed further coursework at Southern Methodist University from 1956 to 1959. In 1963, she concluded her academic efforts, earning a JD from St. Mary’s University. Following these achievements, she has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th, 10th, 11th, Federal and District of Columbia Circuits, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, Ms. Swift has been licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and the state of Texas. For her excellence as a legal professional, she has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Mary D. Pinkard Leader in Federal Equity Award, the Elmer B. Staats Award, the Theodore Roosevelt Award, and multiple Equal Employment Opportunity Awards from the Merit Systems Protection Board. As a further testament to her success and stature, Ms. Swift has been selected for inclusion in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who of American Women.
