Richard “Dick” H. Boatwright, Esq., Managing Partner at the Manassas Law Group PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family law, estate planning and estate administration.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Boatwright attended the University of Virginia and received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1969. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Richmond, where he graduated with a JD in 1974 and was admitted to practice in the State of Virginia that same year. He currently applies his legal experience as a managing partner with the Manassas Law Group PC, a position he has held since 1984. In 2015, Mr. Boatwright was a managing general partner of Stephens, Boatwright, Coleman & Newton and previously, he served as a commissioner in chancery for the Prince William County Circuit Court. He considers some of his most important cases to be Visikides v. Derr, which reversed an earlier custody decision, as well as Commonwealth v. Timothy Dale Bunch, which dealt with the death penalty.
Mr. Boatwright has found additional success through his pro bono activity, serving the Kiwanis Club of Manassas as president from 1990 to 1991, chairman of the scholarship committee from 1987 to 1998 and co-chair of the fundraising committee from 1995 to 1998. From 2002 to 2003, he acted as the president of the Kiwanis Club of Manassas-Battlefield, additionally contributing to the organization as co-chair of the fundraising committee from 1999 to 2013. Mr. Boatwright has maintained memberships to the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Prince William County Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar Association, among numerous further organizations. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including being listed in Top American Lawyers in 2017, being designated among the “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business Magazine in 2014 and receiving the Kiwanian of the Year Award from the Kiwanis Club of Manassas-Battlefield in 2010, among others. Mr. Boatwright attributes his success to being conscientious and trying to do a good job, and in the coming years, he plans to continue his current work.
