Sheldon Gilman, Retired Partner of Lynch, Cox, Gilman, and Goodman, PSC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in trust and estate law.

With more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Gilman has been retired since 2017, having been a partner with Lynch, Cox, Gilman, and Goodman, PSC, since 1987. Prior to obtaining this position, he was a partner with Barnett Alagia from 1982 to 1986 and an associate and partner with Handmaker, Weber, and Myer from 1972 to 1982. In addition to his primary roles, he has served as a consultant, and he was a member of the adjunct faculty for the University of Louisville Brandeis Law School, and he was general counsel for the Louisville Association of Life Underwriters.

Mr. Gilman first pursued an education with Ohio University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in business finance and accounting in 1965. He continued his studies with Case Western Reserve University, earning a Juris Doctor in business organization and tax law in 1967. He then joined the United States Army Reserve, serving in the Judge Advocate General Corps from 1968 to 1972 and attaining the rank of captain. He has been admitted to practice in the states of Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee, and the District of Columbia, as well as before the United States Court of Military Appeals, the United States Tax Court, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Gilman has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the American Bar Association, and the Louisville Association of Life Underwriters. The former president of the Louisville Employee Benefits Council, he has also been named a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gilman has been recognized for his contributions. He has been named Lawyer of the Year for Louisville by Best Lawyers 2016 Trusts and Estates, a Kentucky Super Lawyer, and among the Best Lawyers in America for Trusts and Estates and Employee Benefits Law. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
