George D.H. McMillan Jr., Former State Official and Lawyer at McMillan Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
At the age of seven, Mr. McMillan decided he wanted to commit his life to providing leadership and public service. With this in mind, he pursued an education at Auburn University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1966. He proceeded to further his studies at the University of Virginia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1969. Later that same year, Mr. McMillan was admitted to practice law by the Alabama State Bar as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. McMillan began his career as a clerk to the judge at the United States District Court of the Northern District of Alabama. After gaining more experience, he accepted the position of a partner at the McMillan & Spratling law firm in 1971. In the following years, he excelled in several bureaucratic roles in addition to his primary responsibilities at the law firm. In 1973, he was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, which led him to the Alabama Senate in 1974. These experiences eventually resulted in his exceptional appointment as the Lieutenant Governor of Alabama. However, in 1986, he returned his focus solely back toward his career in law. After several years at different firms, Mr. McMillan became the president of McMillan Associates in 1990, a post in which he flourishes to this day. As a testament to his success, Mr. McMillan is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
