After earning a Bachelor of Science in political science from Occidental College, Mr. Joannes earned a master’s of public administration and a Juris Doctor from the law school of the University of Southern California. A certified specialist in immigration and nationality law, he is admitted to practice through the California State Bar and the United States Supreme Court.
In 1963, Mr. Joannes started working at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals as a law clerk for Judge Stanley N. Barnes. In 1965, he was brought on as a member of the staff of the McCone Commission, which investigated the Watts riots. Later on, after being a partner at Bonaparte and Joannes law firm for 30 years, Mr. Joannes opened his practice, John A. Joannes, A PC, in 1994. He remains there today, continuing to excel in his work. He has lectured on various aspects of immigration law, and he co-authored the Immigration Reform and Control Act Handbook. Mr. Joannes is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Mr. Joannes became a lawyer to help people, and he looks forward to a future of continuing to be of help.
