Shelly Wilson, Managing Partner of Owings, Wilson, and Coleman, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in complex litigation, commercial, corporate, employment and family law.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Ms. Wilson has been the managing partner of Owings, Wilson, and Coleman since 2014. Prior to obtaining her current position, she was a partner with the firm from 2000 to 2014, having been an associate attorney since 1999. Earlier in her career, she was an assistant public defender for the state of Florida from 1988 to 1999. In addition to her primary roles, she has taught municipal government law for Lincoln Memorial University. Ms. Wilson credits her success to her strong work ethic and surrounding herself with similarly-minded people.
Ms. Wilson first pursued an education with Florida Southern College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1982. She continued her studies with the Stetson University College of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 1987. She has been admitted to practice in the states of Tennessee and Florida, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In 2011, her work was recognized with the Knoxville Bar Association President’s Award. Throughout her career, Ms. Wilson has maintained professional affiliation with the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Municipal Attorneys Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Knoxville Bar Association and a myriad of other institutions.
