John Foote, District Attorney with Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in litigation and criminal law.
With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Foote has been a district attorney with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office since 2001. Prior to obtaining his current role, he held a private practice from 1997 to 2000 and he was a district attorney for Clackamas County from 1995 to 1997. Earlier in his career, he was acting director, assistant director, and inspector general of the Oregon Department of Corrections from 1990 to 1995 and a senior deputy district attorney with Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office from 1980 to 1990.
Mr. Foote first pursued an education with the College of Wooster. He continued his studies with the Lewis and Clark Northwestern School of Law, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1979. A respected voice in his areas of interest, he has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Oregon District Attorneys Association, the Oregon State Bar Association, the National District Attorneys Association, and the Clackamas County Bar Association.
Mr. Foote attributes his success mainly to luck. He was fortunate to have been in the right place in the right time. Additionally, Mr. Foote built a positive reputation from working hard and being dedicated to his craft. In the coming years, he hopes to retire from litigation and law overall.
