With more than four decades of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Hanlon’s responsibilities have included representing clients in business and commercial cases, as well as shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust law, securities, and class action cases. Prior to starting his own firm, he contributed to the Law Offices of Henry A. Carey and the State of Oregon’s Department of Justice, where he served as an assistant attorney general for the antitrust division in 1980. Out of all his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of obtaining a $340 million recovery for Oregon federal retirees.
Prior to the start of his career, Mr. Hanlon earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in 1975. Subsequently, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Lewis & Clark College Northwestern School of Law and was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Hanlon retains professional affiliations with the Multnomah County, Oregon State Bar, and American Bar Associations. A respected voice in the field, Mr. Hanlon has also authored two chapters for the Oregon State Bar’s “Civil Pleading and Practice” and “Federal Civil Litigation in Oregon” continuing legal education publications.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Hanlon was named an Oregon Super Lawyer and received an Award of Merit through the Multnomah Bar Association in 2001. Likewise, he has been rated as an AV Preeminent Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell for 30 years. Mr. Hanlon has also been featured in several editions of Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who in American Law.
