Joseph H. Blatchford, Lawyer and Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

After Mr. Blatchford graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in political science, he entered the military. He was sent to Fort Knox in Kentucky and served as a tank commander. After his time there came to an end, Mr. Blatchford returned to Washington to see some of his old colleagues. He visited his town congressman, who had assisted him with an important paper in college, and that visit resulted in Mr. Blatchford being offered a position as an aide in Washington. This role was influential in the rest of his career, as he became familiar with the members and processes of congress through his work. It was only after this experience that he decided to pursue law.

Mr. Blatchford graduated from the University of California Berkley Law School with a Juris Doctorate in 1961. Though his degree is in law, he has pursued many different professional paths throughout his career. Some of his more prominent roles were as a partner at O’Connor & Hannan from 1983 until 2009 and the president of Vantana Associates, Inc. from 1980 until 1990. Early in his career, he spent several years with Accion International. He is quite proud of the work he did during his time there. It was a catalyst to the years he spent as director of the United States Peace Corps, which was an extremely rewarding experience. Presently, Mr. Blatchford is working as a consultant with the Livingston Group, where he has been since 2009.

A respected individual in his field, Mr. Blatchford is part of numerous professional organizations. He brings his insight into the Committee on National Security and International Affairs, the Latin American Institute Heritage Foundation, the People to People Foundation, and the United States-Mexican Studies Center, among others. In 1969, he was awarded the University at California Los Angeles Honor of the Year Award in recognition of his early work. Mr. Blatchford was recently awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award as a testament to his lifelong success.
