Frederick Braid, Partner at Holland & Knight LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in labor and employment law as a management representative.

A graduate of St. Johns University, Mr. Braid earned a Bachelor of Science in economics in 1968 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1971. He also received a Master of Laws degree in Labor Law from New York University in 1979. He began his legal career as an associate with the firm of Rains & Pogrebin in Mineola and New York City, where he became a partner in 1978. During this time, he was admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court, and served in the Army Reserve. In 2000, he joined Holland and Knight as a partner to head its labor and employment practice in its New York office, a position he has held since then.

Mr. Braid’s practice is exclusively devoted to the representation of management in labor and employment law matters. He has represented numerous clients in all aspects of labor relations and employment law, including providing counseling and representation in litigation regarding, for example, union organizing, collective bargaining, contract administration, employment discrimination, enforcement of non-compete restrictions, occupational safety and health, wage and hour matters. In addition, he has published scholarly articles in journals for labor lawyers and is the original author on collective bargaining in the treatise, National Labor Relations Act: Law and Practice. He is also a contributing author to all editions of the American Bar Association’s treatise, Occupational Safety and Health Law. Mr. Braid occasionally speaks at professional conferences and is a member of the Advisory Board for NYU School of Law’s Center for Labor and Employment Law and also a member of the Board of Advisors for St. John’s University School of Law’s Center for Labor and Employment Law. He has repeatedly been listed in Best Lawyers in America and In Chambers America’s Leading Business Lawyers and has been featured in multiple editions of Marquis Who’s Who, including Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
