Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Davis attended the University of North Texas and earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors in 1953. Soon thereafter, he secured a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas in 1958. Furthermore, Mr. Davis was admitted to practice law in the state of Texas and all United States District Courts in the state of Texas, the Supreme Court of Texas, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Since 1961, Mr. Davis has excelled as the senior managing partner for Davis and Davis, PC in Austin. With this firm, he has been responsible for representing numerous clients in legal matters concerning healthcare, administrative law, and medical malpractice. Earlier in his career, he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas, from 1958 to 1961. Additionally, he succeeded as the director of the Texas Junior Bar conference, between 1964 and 1965, and as the co-founder and first president of the Texas Bar Health Law Section. A veteran of the United States Army, he served as an allied Courier in Germany, from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He also found success as an adjunct professor of hospital law at Trinity University in San Antonio, as well as an adjunct professor of Pharmacy Jurisprudence with the University of Texas, from 1969 to 1975. An expert and healthcare and medical malpractice defense, Mr. Davis authored the “Texas Legal and Consent Manual for Texas Hospitals,” and has contributed numerous articles to professional journals of medical, hospital and pharmacy publications.
In a career filled with several highlights, Mr. Davis’ is most proud of his firm, which developed a respected statewide and national reputation in healthcare law. Other achievements to his credit include becoming the youngest man to be appointed to a Board of Regents in Texas during 1967 and being the honoree of a namesake lifetime achievement award from the Texas Pharmacy Association. Likewise, Mr. Davis has been the recipient of several awards from the Texas Hospital Association, the Texas Pharmacy Association, the University of North Texas, the Texas Association for Child Care Facilities, and the Texas Association of Life Underwriters.
