Mr. Darling always knew he wanted to be a lawyer though he wanted to explore other interests as well. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1969 and subsequently worked as an engineer for Bendix Corp. in 1970. He returned to his alma mater, earned a Master of Science in mechanical engineering in 1971, and took his talents to the Ford Motor Co. where he worked as an engineer from 1972 to 1973. Mr. Darling decided it was time to pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer and earned a JD from Wayne State University in 1975 as well as admittance to the Michigan bar in 1975, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 1975, and the U.S. Court Appeals for the 6th Circuit in 1975.

Mr. Darling made partner with Philo, Atkinson, Darling, Steinberg, Harper & Edwards in Detroit from 1975 to 1981 and senior partner with Sommers, Schwartz, Silver & Schwartz in Southfield, Michigan, from 1981 to 2012. He then established Robert H. Darling PLLC, in Plymouth, Michigan, in 2012 and remains in this role. Mr. Darling is glad to have worked with the president of the American Trial Lawyers Association which is now the AAJ American Association for Justice. He worked with on technical cases and Mr. Darling began trying to do the cases himself at an early age within five years which helped lead to his success in the field of law. As a testament to his notoriety, Mr. Darling has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World.
