Norman Hilbrecht, Lawyer and President of Hilbrecht & Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in administrative law, corporate law and business administration.
Mr. Hilbrecht prepared for his career at Northwestern University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1956. He continued his academic pursuits at Yale University, earning a JD in 1959, and was admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Nevada. In 1963, he was additionally admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and much later, in 1986, he was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. From 1952 to 1967, Mr. Hilbrecht served in the United States Army as a captain, and from 1963 to 1968, he garnered experience as the chairman of the Clark County Law Library.
In 1962, Mr. Hilbrecht garnered experience as an associate counsel to Union Pacific Railroad and subsequently started as a partner at Hilbrecht & Jones, where he remained until 1969. For nearly 15 years, he worked as the president of Hilbrecht, Jones, Schreck & Bernhard, and in 1983 he founded Hilbrecht & Associates, where he continues to serve as the president. The firm works with both international and domestic clients and handles matters involving business law, estate planning, and appellate advocacy.
Mr. Hilbrecht’s success as a legal professional led him to numerous further positions, including working as general counsel to the Bell United Insurance Company from 1986 to 1994. As an accomplished businessman, he worked as the president of the Mobil Transport Corporation from 1970 to 1972 and has served as the president and a managing member of the Corporate Services Company, as well as the president of the Nevada Incorporating Company for more than 20 years. In 1999, Mr. Hilbrecht became a managing member of Amcorp LLC. He is additionally the author of both the Nevada Motor Carrier Compendium and the Nevada Corporation Handbook, and co-authored “Colby Case and the Full Faith and Credit Clause” and “Farnham v. Farnham—Variations on an Invariable Theme.”
In addition to his primary pursuits, Mr. Hilbrecht served as an assistant lecturer in business law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, from 1968 to 1969. A participant in state politics, he acted as an assemblyman in the Nevada Legislature from 1966 to 1973, holding the post of the assembly minority leader in 1971. From 1974 to 1978, he served as a Nevada state senator and from 1959 to 1980 he was a member of the Clark County Democratic Center Committee. Mr. Hilbrecht also held the position of a Supreme Court settlement judge in 1997 and has been recognized for his achievements with myriad awards. In 1969, the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, named him an Outstanding State Legislator, and since 1993 he has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America.
