George Brandt, Founding Attorney at Lyons, Brandt, Cook & Hiramatsu, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
After earning a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from Cornell University in 1964 and 1965, respectively, Mr. Brandt served in the military. During his time there, the military appointed non-lawyers to do various lawyer-like jobs. He held many jobs like that while serving as a captain in the United States Army and the responsibilities interested him. He found the law challenging and interesting, and he enjoyed the opportunity to be creative. After his service, Mr. Brandt attended Cornell University where he was an editor of the Cornell Law Review and earned a JD with distinction from the Cornell University School of Law in 1972.
Mr. Brandt’s bar admissions include the Supreme Court of Hawaii, the Supreme Court of California, the United States District Courts for the Districts of Hawaii and Northern California and the United States Court of Appeals for the ninth circuit. He was a founding member, Lyons, Brandt, Cook & Hiramatsu in 1979 and remains affiliated with the firm. Additionally, Mr. Brant is an adjunct professor of law within the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii and was a former director of Childhood Empowerment. Mr. Brandt contributes his success to being determined and having good common sense, and he is a member of the Order of the Coif, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Hawaii Bar Association and the American Bar Associations.
