Robert Wellon has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family law.
Since high school, Mr. Wellon has known that he can best contribute to society by being a lawyer. He followed his principals to Emory University, first earning an AB in 1970. Following this, he earned a JD from the Stetson College of Law in 1974. He first started as an associate at Turner, Turner & Turner and then became a partner at Ridley, Wellon, Schweiger & Brazier in 1978. From 1987 to 2000, Mr. Wellon dedicated his services of counsel at Wilson, Strickland & Benson. In 2000, he opened the doors to his sole practice and has remained a passionate legal practitioner in this venture since then. In addition, Mr. Wellon has served as an adjunct professor of law at Emory University since 1995. He previously taught as an adjunct professor at Atlanta Law School from 1981 to 1994.
The highlight of Mr. Wellon’s career was the founding, with the help of others, of the Weltner Family Law American Inn of Court. It has been wildly successful since 1978. He also feels proud about his teaching out at the Emory Law School, attending graduation every year and celebrating the students he has taught has been very rewarding to him. In his own legal career, he was aided by his mentor, and first and only boss, Jack Turner. Mr. Wellon has also benefitted from various professional affiliations, including the Atlanta Bar Foundation, Atlanta Foundation for Psychoanalysis, Inc., Greenlaw, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, the American Judicature Society, the Florida Bar, the Old War Horse Lawyers Club and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
