Mr. Minichello gravitated toward law since high school and pursued an education at Ohio University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics and a Master of Arts in 1974. He later attended Northwestern University and graduated with a JD. He is certified to practice law by the Illinois State Bar Association, the Seventh Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals, the state of Indiana, the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the District of Illinois. Mr. Minichello began his career in law as an associate for Haskell & Perrin from 1978 to 1984, before serving as a partner at Tribler & Marwedel from 1984 to 1989. From 1989 to 1997, he excelled as a partner at Keck, Mahin & Cate.
Currently, Mr. Minichello is a shareholder and attorney at Marwedel, Minichello & Reeb, P.C. As the author of numerous articles and books, he has helped his firm grow and develop. It has been featured as one of the Best Law Firms in Illinois, listed as one of the Top Ranked Law Firms, and named to the Best Law Firms. Mr. Minichello has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer since 2007 and was a Fulbright Scholar in 1974. In a career full of notable cases, he successfully represented the vessel owner in an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of maritime jurisdiction over a fire originating from a docked vessel, resulting in a reversal of the Seventh Circuit ruling, and new standards being set for determining maritime jurisdiction. Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, Mr. Minichello has been active in the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association of the United States, and the Association for Transportation Law, Logistics and Policy, among other organizations.
