Joel Michael Silvershein, Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in government law.
Mr. Silvershein enjoys being a trial lawyer and government servant because it allows him to help people. He decided to combine his interests and he pursued an education at Tulane University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1983. He obtained a JD from Nova University in 1986, and has been certified to practice law by the Florida Bar, the United States Tax Court, the United States Claims Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Silvershein began his career as an assistant state attorney for Broward County, a position he still holds.
As a member of the Florida Bar Association, Mr. Silvershein had the great responsibility of being the chair of the juvenile rules committee twice, helping to give direction on how juvenile law was to be practiced in the state of Florida. With the goal of improving the practice of law, he simultaneously handled a number of important county cases and chaired the criminal law section of the association. Notably, he co-authored “Florida Juvenile Law and Practice” and was a researcher for “The Law of Life and Health Insurance.” As a further testament to his experience, stature, and success in the legal profession, Mr. Silvershein has been featured in the eighth and 13th editions of Who’s Who in American Law.
