Donald Glenn Gavin, Lawyer, Educator, Arbitrator, Public Speaker, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of arbitration.
With over 50 years of experience in government law, Mr. Gavin entered the field with a strong military background and spent four years as an Army lawyer during the Vietnam War while teaching the rules of warfare to young soldiers. He worked as a law clerk for the Court of Common Pleas from 1967 to 1968 before assuming the role of associate at Lewis, Mitchell & Moore, where he progressed to a partner position in just two years. From 1974 to 2006, Mr. Gavin excelled as a founding partner at Wickwire, Gavin Professional Corporation and served as a shareholder for Akerman, Senterfitt, Wickwire, Gavin from 2006 to 2017. Currently, he is an arbitrator and mediator with Akerman, Sentefitt, Wickwire. Mr. Gavin is certified to practice law by the Virginia Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Prior to embarking on his career journey, Mr. Gavin pursued an education at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in economics in 1964 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1967. He completed additional coursework at George Washington University and obtained a Master of Laws in 1972. In order to keep ahead of developments in his field, Mr. Gavin is active in several professional organizations and contributes articles to various professional journals. He is an active member of the American Bar Foundation, the American College of Construction Lawyers, the U.S. Council for International Business, and the International Bar Association. Notably, he was the recipient of an Outstanding Service Award from the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and has had many opportunities to lecture both nationally and internationally.
