Mr. Jenkins became involved in his profession after working as an investigator for five years and serving as a member of the law society while in college. Before beginning his legal career, Mr. Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from North Carolina A&T University in 1996, and was on the dean’s list. He transitioned to Clark University and earned a Master of Arts in public policy and urban politics from in 2002, going on to earn a JD from Texas Southern University in 2007. While earning a JD, Mr. Jenkins was inducted as a member of Phi Alpha Delta and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. During law school, he also worked as a law clerk for Henderson and Ligon from 2005 to 2007, conducting research on legal issues and reviewing contracts, waivers and agreements.
The highlight of Mr. Jenkins’ career was becoming a judge. He started his career as a co-founder and chief operating officer of U&I International in 1998, and remained there until 2000. In 1999, he served as a jail unit manager and investigator for the Atlanta Pretrial Services until 2004. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Jenkins opened his own private practice, the Law Office of Ittriss J. Jenkins LLC in 2007 and continues practicing law there to this day. Since 2015, Mr. Jenkins has also held the position of judge for Charleston County. He is a certified equal employment investigator, and as a further testament to his success, he has been inducted as a member of the Federal Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar Association.
