Bill has practiced law at the highest levels in the country, including the United States Supreme Court as well as multiple United States District Courts and United States Courts of Appeals. Likely not equaled but rare in any event, Bill has won appeals in 3 different United States Courts of Appeals, the 5th, 9th and 10th Circuits. Bill has been recognized as a leading authority on federal sentencing and the United States Sentencing Guidelines. Bill was one of the pioneering lawyers to raise the issue of the unconstitutionality of the USSG as adding jail time without a beyond a reasonable doubt standard and therefore a violation of the 6th Amendment. Bill has been quoted in national publications on federal sentencing and constitutional issues in The Wall Street Journal, and has also had appearances on “ABC World News Tonight” with Peter Jennings regarding the USSG. Bill has also been covered in ‘The New York Times’, the ‘New York Daily News’, and was quoted as an authority in the ‘Wake Forest Law Review’ on jury trials. Bill’s appearances on ABC are included in the Vanderbilt Television News Archive at Vanderbilt University. Civically involved as well, Mr. Zuhdi has been a patron of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital since 1994 and is on the board of directors of the Friends of the Oklahoma History Center.
Married to his wife Darla Zuhdi for 35 happy years, Bill enjoys the practice of law, films, producing music and boxing events including producing World Title fights. Bill’s wife Darla is a well-known singer/songwriter and the star of 3 public television music specials.
Bill attended the University of Oklahoma and obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1982. Bill has law offices in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and in Dallas, Texas. Bill is a trial lawyer with vast experience in both federal and state criminal defense and complex civil litigation as well as appeals, both federal and state and has represented clients in Federal and state courts in 14 states and the District of Columbia. He has been admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma and the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 10th Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Finding that law and entertainment went hand-in-hand, Mr. Zuhdi represented a plethora of entertainment figures during his legal career, including John Avildsen, the Academy Award-winning director of “Rocky.” Adding entertainment services to his repertoire after noting that many of his entertainment clients wanted him to produce shows, he was initially inspired to be a lawyer after watching “Perry Mason” at a young age. Mr. Zuhdi maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.
As a testament to his profound success, Mr. Zuhdi was named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in America from 2016 to 2019. Also in 2019, Mr. Zuhdi received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, he was recognized in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in America.
