Wendell Mortimer, Retired Judge, Mediator and Arbitrator at ADR Services Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal profession.

As a young man, Judge Mortimer studied at Occidental College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1958. He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, and served until 1962, when he was honorably discharged. Prior to his military service, Judge Mortimer had acted as the negotiator for a real estate deal. The real estate agent told him that given the way he had negotiated, he would make an excellent lawyer, and he took this suggestion to heart. Returning to civilian life, he dove into his studies, attending the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. In 1965, he earned a JD, and started as a trial attorney for the legal division of the state of California. Judge Mortimer was licensed to practice law in the state of California, and in 1973, he started as an associate at Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges.

After a few years with the firm, Judge Mortimer rose to the rank of partner in 1976. He worked there for more than 15 years, and in 1994, he started his own private practice. Shortly thereafter, he became a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court in 1995, and remained in that position for more than a decade. From the year 2000 to his departure from the L.A. Superior Court in 2008, Judge Mortimer served as a member of the court’s Complex Litigation Panel. In 2000, he was awarded the Judicial Civility Award by the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Currently, Judge Mortimer serves as an arbitrator and mediator at ADR Services Inc., where he has worked since 2008. He is a member of a variety of legal organizations, including the American Bar Association, the International Academy of Trial Judges (Past President), the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the California Judges Association, the American Judicature Society, and the American Judges Association. He is also a member of the Irish-American Bar Association, the Pasadena Bar Association, and has served as the president of the San Marino City Club and L.A. Railroad Heritage Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Governors of Occidental College. Judge Mortimer’s experience, success, and service as a judge solidify him as an elite member of the legal profession.
