As a student, Mr. Wing attended Yale University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1960. He moved on to the University of Chicago Law School, where he earned a JD in 1963 and started as an associate at Sherman & Sterling. He was licensed to practice law in the state of New York in 1964 and has additionally been licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second, Seventh, Ninth, and Federal Circuits. Mr. Wing is also licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii, and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Mr. Wing worked at Sherman & Sterling for three years, transitioning to a role as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York in 1966, where he would work for over a decade, until 1978. From 1971 to 1978, he additionally served as the chief of the fraud unit, and in 1978, he transitioned to Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he was a partner for nearly 30 years. In 2006, he left the firm and became a partner at Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP, where he works to this day. In both his time as a federal prosecutor and in his private practice, he has been primarily motivated by achieving a just outcome.
In his extensive legal career, Mr. Wing has worked with a wide variety of clients, from Fortune 500 corporations to law firms, banks, doctors, small business owners, and many other individuals. He has won acquittals in jury trials in both federal and state courts for a number of clients, including the president of a major concrete company charged with grand larceny, a small community bank charged with 80 counts of grand larceny, and a partner at one of London’s largest law firms charged with suppressing evidence. Out of all of his cases, Mr. Wing is most proud of the work he has done to help those who have been wrongly accused.
For his excellence as a trial lawyer, Mr. Wing was named to Super Lawyers, and to the Best Lawyers in America. He was recognized with a Norman Ostrow Award for Excellence in Criminal Defense in 2004 and is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is additionally a member of the white collar crime committee in the criminal justice section of the American Bar Association and has instructed advocacy courses at many institutions, including Harvard Law School, Columbia Law School, Fordham Law School, and Cardozo Law School. He has also contributed a variety of chapters and articles to published works. Mr. Wing’s stature, experience, and success as a trial lawyer have established him as an elite member of the legal profession
