Larry Baumann, Partner at Kelley, Scritsmier & Byrne P.C. L.L.O., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of litigation, family law, and contract litigation.
As a high school student, Mr. Baumann took numerous career aptitude tests. After he discussed his potential future path with a school counselor, he ultimately decided to enter the field of law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Chadron State College in 1968, served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971 and received a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska in 1974. He was admitted to the Nebraska Bar and the U.S. District Court of Nebraska the same year he graduated from law school, and was admitted to the U.S. Tax Court in 1983 and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit in 1989.
Mr. Baumann became a partner with Fillman & Baumann Attorneys in 1974 and remained with the firm until 2000. During this time, he assumed ownership of Kelley, Scritsmier & Byrne in 1981 and continues to own the firm. His work has earned him the title of Top 10 Attorney in Family Law Attorney for the State of Nebraska, NAFTA, in 2018 and he is grateful to continue practicing law. Mr. Baumann finds that the most rewarding aspect of his profession is the appreciation for what he has done and the outcomes and advises those interested in law to understand it is an honorable profession that will cause a person to deal with their emotions. Above all, Mr. Baumann believes the key to success is hard work and focusing on helping people in the most compassionate way a person can.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Baumann has been the president of the York Jaycees in 1976, on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce from 1992 to 1994, and affiliated with Nebraskaland Days, Inc., from 1994 to 1998. Furthermore, he holds a membership with the Council of School Attorneys, NAFTA, the Nebraska Bar Association, the Lincoln County Bar Association, and the Nebraska Council School of Attorneys of which he was president from 1988 to 1989.
