Mr. Gregory started his higher education at the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. He went on to study at Wayne State University Law School, earning a JD in 1974, and then an LLM from the New York University School of Law in 1976. He was admitted to the Michigan state bar in 1974, the Colorado state bar in 1976, the 10th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals in 1976, the United States Tax Court in 1980, and the D.C. Bar in 2001. Inspired to pursue law by a friend of his parents, Mr. Gregory started practicing at a single man firm, Irving Stahl, in 1973, and has worked as an attorney at law for over 40 years.
Through his professional career, Mr. Gregory has been a part of a variety of important legal proceedings. In 2008, he was responsible for structuring a transaction that resulted in the creation of Omega Refining, a company with revenues in excess of $400 million. In 1990, he was part of a group that formed the Global Environment Fund, which emphasized investing in emerging environmental markets, and the company grew from a few million dollars to a billion dollars in a few short years. He credits Jeffery Leonard, president of the Global Environment Fund, and Allen Lotner, with whom he worked for nearly 20 years, for mentoring him in his career. As a testament to his success as a legal professional, Mr. Gregory was featured in the 9th edition of Who’s Who in American Law.
