With almost three decades of experience practicing law, David S. Kritzer has enjoyed a successful career and has distinguished himself as a skilled and knowledgeable advocate for his clients as well as a respected member of the legal community. Kritzer Law Group was originally founded in 2000 as David S. Kritzer & Associates and formally became known as Kritzer Law Group in 2006 as the firm continued to grow and expand its areas of practice. The firm’s practice areas include appellate practice, automobile liability defense, business and commercial litigation, the defense of construction defect and labor law claims, general liability claims, insurance coverage issues, professional liability defense, and trucking and transportation defense. Mr. Kritzer founded the firm with four core values in mind: understanding, integrity, professionalism, and commitment. Although he is the first attorney in his family, even as a young child Mr. Kritzer knew that he was destined to become an attorney. His father was a Certified Public Accountant who worked closely with numerous attorneys, which both fascinated Mr. Kritzer and fed his desire to become a member of what he viewed as a very distinguished profession. Before establishing himself as a trusted voice in the legal community, Mr. Kritzer recognized the value that a strong background in business and finance could bring to him and to those he would ultimately represent. He pursued a formal education at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in business in 1989 while majoring in accounting and finance. Mr. Kritzer then continued his education at New York Law School where he achieved his Juris Doctor degree in 1992.
Since being admitted to the New York State Bar in 1992, David S. Kritzer has maintained an active presence in the field. Mr. Kritzer has significant trial and appellate practice experience. He has argued appeals in the New York State Court of Appeals and has the distinction of successfully arguing a landmark decision concerning Long-Arm Jurisdiction. He has represented a wide variety of individuals, businesses, corporations, municipalities, insurance companies, self-insured entities, third-party administrators, and risk adjustment companies in all phases of plaintiff and defense litigation from case inception through trial and appeal. He has lectured on numerous insurance-related topics, he has served as a guest speaker lecturing to law students on various practice related topics such as evidence, deposition and trial techniques and New York Practice. He has served as a federal court-appointed mediator on civil cases in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York as well as serving as an independent mediator in cases at the state and local levels. Mr. Kritzer is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers’ Association, the Suffolk County Bar Association, the National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association, the National Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) where he serves as a member of the Transportation Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Dominican Village, a retirement and assisted living facility. Mr. Kritzer has been recognized by Lawyers of Distinction for Excellence in Insurance Law, and by Super Lawyers for his work in the Insurance Defense industry.
Mr. Kritzer currently resides in Smithtown, New York with his wife Annmarie, whom he has been married to since 2004. Together, they are the proud parents of four children. Reflecting on his career, Mr. Kritzer is proud of his various accomplishments over his long and storied career. He attributes his success to his tenacity as well as his unending commitment to always being the most prepared. He believes that the key to gaining the trust of others and maintaining credibility is by always following his moral compass and treating everyone respectfully and fairly. Looking to the future, Mr. Kritzer sees himself continuing to grow Kritzer Law Group as well as his other insurance-related businesses.
