Mr. Clark first became interested in law while studying the profession at West Point. While serving in the US Army, his interest in the field deepened and he decided upon retiring from active service in 1968 and a Captain, he would pursue the field in his daily line of work. He earned a JD from the University of Alabama in 1971 and in that same year was the law clerk to Judge Walter P. Gerwin of the US Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit. In 1972, he joined Rogers Howard Redden & Mills as an associate, and in 1974 made partner at the firm. He has been with the firm ever since and it has since been renamed as Redden Mills & Clark, Shaw. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Clark served as a major general in the US Army Reserves from 1968 until his retirement from that position in 2000.

In his career, Mr. Clark has received a number of accolades, including the Decorated Parachute Badge, a Meritorious Service Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and an Army Commendation Medal. He has also been named to Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and is the recipient of the Roderick P. Beddow Distinguished Service Award. Furthermore, Mr. Clark has been recognized with a fellowship with the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has additional affiliation with the Alabama State Bar Association, the Alabama Law Institute, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the American Law Institute.
