Richard Gerding has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil, domestic, criminal, labor and insurance law.
Mr. Gerding has practiced law for more than five decades and has derived great satisfaction throughout his career for helping many clients in a variety of legal services. Since 1997, he has utilized his skills and experience as a partner of Gerding & O’Loughlin. He previously served as a partner at Tansey, Rosebrough & Gerding from 1968 to 1997. He originally joined that firm in 1965 as an associate. Earlier in his career, he garnered experience as a law clerk in the New Mexico Supreme Court. In addition to these positions, Mr. Gerding has served on a number of committees with the New Mexico Supreme Court, the US District Court, and has imparted his knowledge of his profession as a visiting faculty member of San Juan College.
Since 1975, Mr. Gerding has been an AV-Rated Lawyer. His other accolades included being selected to the San Juan Regional Medical Center Hall of Fame in 2016 and being selected among the Roehl Circle of Honor for Trial Attorneys in 2006. He cannot remember a time where he didn’t want to be an attorney, and pursued the profession at the University of New Mexico, earning a BBA in 1961 and a JD in 1964. He has been admitted to practice through the state bar of New Mexico and Colorado, and is also admitted to practice with the US District Courts of Colorado and New Mexico, the US Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and with the Navajo Nation. In addition, Mr. Gerding honorably served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959. He maintains professional affiliation as a fellow and advocate with the American College of Trial Lawyers.
