With more than five decades of experience in the profession of law, Mr. Scremin can testify that it has been a rewarding and honorable area to work in. Inspired to study law from his father, who was a lawyer, Mr. Scremin has been able to instill that same passion for his work to his own son, who is now a lawyer as well. Mr. Scremin began practicing law in 1968, starting out as an associate at Hawkesworth & Kay. Over the next three years, he practiced as an associate and trial assistant and then as a head trial attorney at Steven, Demos, et al, and at Welch & Carroll, and the Metro Transit Authority of Miami. In 1970, be became a partner and trial attorney at Abramson, Scremin et. Al, and remained at this firm until 1978.
Following this practice, Mr. Scremin became the principal and head trial attorney of his eponymously named firm, Anthony J. Scremin P.A. He has remained an integral figure for his clients in this venture since 1978. In order to provide quality services, Mr. Scremin earned a BBA and a JD from the University of Miami in 1966 and 1968, respectively. He was admitted to the state bar of Florida in 1968, and a year later admitted to the US District Court, South District of Florida. In 1985, he was admitted to the US Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and then the US Court of Appeals, Tenth in 1987. In his career, he has maintained professional affiliation with the American Arbitration Association, the Academy of Trial Lawyers of America, the New York State of Trial Lawyers Association, the Florida Bar Association, the Association of Florida Trial Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Italian-American Bar Association and Phi Delta Phi.
Mr. Scremin served in the US Coast Guard from 1959 to 1960. In his career, he has received a Certificate of Merit from the Bar and Gavel Legal Society and the Outstanding Service Award from the Labor Law Society of the University of Miami. His advice to those pursuing a legal profession is to make sure it is what you want and be prepared.
