William Wachenfeld, of counsel at Tompkins, McGuire, and Wachenfeld, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in litigation.

With more than 55 years of professional experience, Mr. Wachenfeld was of counsel with Tompkins, McGuire, and Wachenfeld from 1984 to 2010. Prior to obtaining this position, he was vice president and associate general counsel at Prudential Insurance Company of America from 1965 to 1984. In addition to his primary roles, he was chair of the Charles Hayden Foundation from 1997 to 1999, having been president since 1968. Earlier in his career, he was a member of Lum, Biunno, and Tompkins from 1957 to 1958 and a professor of law at Rutgers University Jersey City Division from 1954 to 1956.

Mr. Wachenfeld began his career as a student at Tufts University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1947. He continued his studies with Duke University, earning a Bachelor of Laws in 1950. He later joined the United States Navy, serving from 1954 to 1956. He has been admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey.

A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Wachenfeld has been an active leader in his community. A fellow of the American Bar Foundation, he is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, and the Essex County Bar Association. He is also the former commodore of the HC Yacht Club, a former member of the board of directors at the New York Regional Association of Grantmakers, and he has been affiliated with Eastward Ho Country Club.

Throughout his career, Mr. Wachenfeld has been recognized for his achievements and accomplishments. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the East.
