Mr. Fitzpatrick is an award-winning attorney whose incredible work over nearly five decades has left a positive and lasting impression on his community in Bayonne, NJ. Today, he is a managing partner of Fitzpatrick & Merritt, a full-service law firm that offers services in general practice, which covers a wide range of matters including administrative law, commercial law, development regulation, personal injury, real estate, litigation, regulatory law, negligence, environmental law and more. The firm has been providing top of the line customer service since its establishment in 1978. Before beginning the practice, Mr. Fitzpatrick came to prominence in early roles including associate for Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, law clerk to the associate justice for the New Jersey Supreme Court, staff assistant to the U.S. Senate, and securities analyst for Brown Brothers, Harriman & Co., and Chase Manhattan Bank. In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Fitzpatrick was the recent recipient of a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition to his professional work in his career, Mr. Fitzpatrick has taken on career-related projects to further his impact on his field. From 1976 to 2012, he was a member of the General Counsel Housing Authority for the City of Bayonne. He was also involved with various housing authorities throughout New Jersey including for the town of Secaucus, the city of Englewood, the city of Rahway, the city of Woodbridge, the city of Asbury Park and the city of Hoboken. He also served as a member of the board of education for the city of Rahway and participated in initiatives with the New Jersey Public Housing Authority Joint Insurance Fund. Today, he continues in his tremendous civic work through projects with the New Jersey Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities.
To prepare for a career in law, Mr. Fitzpatrick pursued and completed his education. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College, an MBA from New York University, and a JD from Harvard University. He is permitted to practice law in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. District Court of New Jersey and the state of New Jersey. He is a recognized leader in his field through his involvement with the American Bar Association, the Hudson County Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association and Beta Gamma Sigma. As he looks to the future, Mr. Fitzpatrick intends to continue working in the legal field while looking for new opportunities to impact his colleagues in the field.
