Sanford Rosen, Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in criminal justice, civil law, commercial litigation, legal malpractice and first amendment law.

Mr. Rosen decided he wanted to be a lawyer during his first semester in college.  He originally intended on majoring in physics, but found that science and mathematics no longer held the same fascination as it once did. Instead, his mind turned to law as it had always been on the back of his mind. He earned an AB from Cornell University in 1959 and continued at Yale University to receive an LLB in 1962. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Connecticut in 1962 and gained further admittance to California in 1972 and the United States Supreme Court in 1966.  From 1962 to 1963, he served as a law clerk to the Honorary Simon E. Sobeloff of the US Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. In 2012, he became a founding partner of his current firm, Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld LLP. He was previously a founding partner of Rosen, Bien & Galvan LLP and principal of Rosen & Associations. In addition to serving his clients in these legal positions, Mr. Rosen taught at the University of Maryland, the University of Texas, and was a legal director for the Mexican-American Legal Defense Fund and an assistant legal director of the National ACLU.

In 2008, Mr. Rosen received the Diversity Pioneer Award from the Council on Legal Education Opportunity for his contribution to its mission of increasing minority representation in legal education and the profession. More recently in 2018, he received the CLEO Edge Founders’ Award. He has also been recognized by the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., the NAACP Legal defense and Educational Fund, Inc., the Prisoners Union and the City of San Francisco. In his career, he has maintained professional affiliation with the California Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the California Consumer Lawyers and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
