Judge Barry Schneider, Superior Court Judge (Retired) Mediator and Arbitrator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil law.
When it came time for Mr. Schneider to decide what he wanted to do in life, he was at first unsure. However, he turned to the world around him and realized the United States was going through a lot of changes, as reflected, for example, by the civil rights movement. He enrolled in law school and found the profession to be a natural fit for him. He graduated from St. John’s University with a JD in 1968. Mr. Schneider previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Harpur College in 1964. After graduating law school, he began practicing as a staff attorney at the Bedford-Stuyvesant Community Legal Services and then joined as an associate at Guzik & Boukstein until 1971.
In 1972, Mr. Schneider relocated to Arizona and was admitted to the state bar whereupon he began practicing as an associate at Langerman, Begam, Lewis & Marks. In 1977, he joined as a partner with Rosen & Schneider and provided his services in this respect until 1986. In 1986, Mr. Schneider became a judge of the Superior Court in Phoenix, a large jurisdiction trail court. On the court, he demonstrated his leadership as the presiding judge of both the civil and domestic relations departments. Mr. Schneider considers one of his highlights to be his inclusion as part of a major jury reform effort. The year 2007 was another banner year for Mr. Schneider as he retired from his position as judge and simultaneously opened his mediation and arbitration firm, Schneider Mediation.
In his remarkable career, Mr. Schneider became a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and received several accolades for his work. In 2008, he was recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus for Public Service Award from Binghamton University. He has received a Judge of the Year Award from the Maricopa County Bar Association and the State Bar of Arizona, as well as the State Bar’s Presidential Award. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Bar Association.
