Initially earning a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1962, Mr. Dyer enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963, serving to the rank of captain. Attending the Naval Justice School in Newport, RI, soon thereafter, he fell in love with legal studies and graduated from the school with distinction. Subsequently, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1970. Throughout his career, he has served as a civil litigation attorney, arbitrator and mediator with the Pro Tem Superior Court in Santa Clara County, CA. Likewise, he has also served as a judge with the Pro Tem Superior Court in Santa Clara County and the Municipal and Superior Courts in San Mateo County, CA. Notably, he has also been a partner with Dyer & White in Menlo Park, CA, for several years.
A frequent lecturer in the field, Mr. Dyer has been involved in his local community as well, acting as a past member of the Democratic National Finance Committee and the Executive Council of the Boys Club of the Bay Area. Likewise, he served the Boys Club as former president and board of directors member. Admitted to practice law in California and before the United States Supreme Court, he has maintained affiliation with several organizations in an effort to remain abreast of changes in the field. He is a member and former president of the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association, member and former state committeeman of the American Association for Justice, and member and former vice president of the Consumer Attorneys of California. Likewise, he remains affiliated with the State Bar of California, the San Mateo County Bar Association, the California Dispute Resolution Council and the American Board of Trial Advocates, among others.
In light of his exceptional achievements, Mr. Dyer has received numerous accolades and honors. The recipient of the U.S. Armed Forced Meritorious Service Medal and the U.S. Navy Commendation Medal, he was named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association and a Super Lawyer of Northern California. He has additionally received a James M. Dennis Memorial Award from the San Mateo County Bar Association, and he holds an AV Preeminent Rating through Martindale-Hubbell. Furthermore, he has been highlighted in the first edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, as well as several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
