Dedicated to helping others succeed, Mr. Farrar has been an exemplary lawyer in South Dakota since bar admissions in 1963. He has entered this field due to his desire to help people and has prepared for his endeavors by earning a Bachelor of Science and an LL.B. from the University of South Dakota as well as an LL.D. from Huron College. He has been an agent for the Internal Revenue Service from 1955 to 1957 and has practiced law in Britton from 1957 to 1963, also serving as a judge in Marshall County in 1958. In 1959, he assumed the role of state’s attorney in Marshall County before advancing to the role of attorney general of the State of South Dakota from 1963 to 1969, ultimately serving as governor of the State of South Dakota from1969 to 1979.

In addition to these esteemed positions, Mr. Farrar has served as the chairman of numerous organizations. He has headed the Cardinal and Gold Insurance Co., Frank L. Farrar & Associates, Performance Bankers, Inc. Mr. Farrar has also been affiliated with Bancorps., Inc., Northwest Investment Inc., 1st Agency Hasting and Peoples Holding Co. Dedicated to his country, Mr. Farrar served in the US Army reserves from 1949 to 1953 and was on active duty in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He has served his community as a past president of the Pheasant council Boy Scouts America, past chairman of the South Dakota March of Dimes and a past fundraising chairman of the South Dakota Mental Health Association. Mr. Farrar has served on the board directors of the Rural Coalition America, been a chairman of the Marshall County Republican Party and an assistant sergeant-at-arms for the Republican National Convention of 1960.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Farrar has been affiliated with numerous organizations including, but not limited to, the South Dakota States Attorneys Association and National District Attorneys. He has achieved awards related to his career such as the Alumnus Achievement Award from the University South Dakota in 1981 as well as the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in American Politics, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.

In addition to his legal prowess, Mr. Farrar is proud of his physical capabilities. As a child, he sustained a knee injury so debilitating that doctors believed they might have had to remove his leg. The other option for Mr. Farrar was to undergo a highly experimental procedure using nails. Those nails are still in his leg and with those nails in his leg, Mr. Farrar has completed 375 triathlons. In recognition of this outstanding athletic achievement, he has been named Senior Olympics Athlete of the Year for South Dakota and the Fourth All American for Triathlon in 1999 and has been named to Hall of Fame Senior Olympics in South Dakota.
