Wayne B. Giampietro, Partner at Poltrock & Giampietro, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal industry.
Delving into his profession due to an inherent interest in the legal arena from a formative age, Mr. Giampietro attended Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. Admittedly doing well in law school at Northwestern University, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1966. Upon graduating, he served in his first position for the prestigious attorney Elmer Gertz, where he acted as an associate for seven years. Having become a member of his successor firm, Gertz & Giampietro, for one subsequent year, he also served in a private practice from 1975 to 1976. Beginning in 1976, he was employed with Poltrock & Giampietro as partner for more than a decade until serving in the same capacity for its successor firm, Witwer, Burlage, Poltrock & Giampietro, until 1994. Returning the firm’s name to its initial title, he again served as partner from 1995 to 2002. After a brief stint as partner at Stitt, Klein, Daday, Aretos & Giampietro LLC for seven years, he returned to Poltrock & Giampietro as partner, a role he has held since 2011.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Giampietro has been general counsel for the First Amendment Lawyers Association since 2000, having been a former consultant and attorney for the Looking Glass Division of the Traveler’s Aid Society. Civically involved as well, he was the former president of the Chicago 47th Ward Young Republicans in 1968 and sat on the board of directors of the Ravenswood Conservation Commission. In addition, he has maintained affiliation with the Appellate Lawyers Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Counsel of Lawyers.
Mr. Giampietro has been admitted to practice law in Illinois, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Among his notable achievements, he cites the highlight of his career to be when he successfully argued before the Supreme Court, where he represented his boss in a defamation case. Wishing to be remembered for providing exemplary legal service to his clients with compassion and dedication, he intends to continue preserving in his current role.
Married to Mary E. Fordeck since 1963, Mr. Giampietro has three sons. He is a native of Chicago, IL, and currently resides in the town of Lincolnshire. In his spare time, he enjoys stamp collecting, bowling and traveling.
