Practicing law for over 40 years, Mr. Capecelatro has been serving in private practice since 2002, where he focuses his attention on the purchase and sale of residential and commercial real estate, estate planning (including the drafting of wills, trusts and health care proxies), and the settlement of estates. He currently serves the towns of Canaan, Falls Village, Norfolk, Goshen, Lakeville, Salisbury, Sharon and Cornwell, among other Litchfield County towns in Connecticut. Commencing his career as a trial specialist in the litigation of personal injury matters, divorce, child custody, criminal defense and civil litigation, among other areas of practice, he served as an associate of Ells, Quinlan, Eddy & Robinson from 1973 to 1977 before becoming partner of Ells, Quinlan & Robinson between 1977 and 1990. Thereafter, he served in the same capacity for Capecelatro & Nelligan LLP from 1991 to 2001 before opening his own private firm.
Mr. Capecelatro holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Admitted to practice law in Connecticut, he has served in myriad executive positions for the Canaan National Bank, the Salisbury Congregational Church, the Salisbury Winter Sports Association, Salisbury Housing Trust, Inc., and Litchfield Bancorp, where he has sat on the advisory board since 2015. Civically involved, he previously sat on the board of directors of Housatonic Homemaker Health Aide for three years, Housatonic Day Care Center, Inc., for nine years, Salisbury Public Health Nursing for two years, and Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Services, Inc., for six years, among other facilities and organizations.
Affiliated with the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association and Litchfield County Bar Association, Mr. Capecelatro is renowned as the most experienced zoning attorney in Connecticut’s northwest corner and the only attorney to successfully obtain all required municipal approvals for residential renovation and construction projects for properties located on Twins Lake and Lakeville Lake in Connecticut. Attributing his success to his many mentors, including attorney Francis M. Doley, partner Hugh Robinson, and real estate broker Jean Belingni, he is most proud of his wife Jane, who has served as his greatest support system throughout his journey. The proud father of three children and one grandchild, Mr. Capecelatro enjoys golfing, fishing and kayaking in his spare time.
