A seasoned professional in the legal arena, Mr. Weiner has amassed 60 years of professional excellence in his vocation. Currently serving as senior counsel with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP since 2002, he has remained with the firm for the entirety of his career, commencing his tenure with the firm as an associate in 1958. After serving a brief stint as an acting professor of law at the University of California, Berkeley, for three years, he returned to the firm as a longtime partner from 1968 to 2001. During this time, he also served the firm as vice chairman of the management committee from 1984 to 1997. Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Weiner has also been an adjunct professor of law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University since 2010 and Brooklyn Law School since 2003. An arbitrator of FINRA, he has notably been a special master for the First Department Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court since 1999. From 2008 to 2013, Mr. Weiner was an adjunct professor of law at Hofstra Law School.
A contributor of myriad articles to various legal publications, Mr. Weiner holds a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Harvard University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from Yale University, where he served as a comment editor of the Yale Law Journal and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa, he also maintains affiliation with the American Bar Foundation, the New York Bar Foundation, the New York City Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Council, where he has served as a former member, chairman for the committee of second circuit courts, and trustee. Since 1981, he has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, membership in which is limited to one percent of the lawyers in each state of the United States. He is also a member of the New York State Judicial Institute on Professionalism in the Law, and since 1998, a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the First Department Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court.
In light of his accomplishments, Mr. Weiner has accrued multiple honors. He was elected to Best Lawyers of America, and he is also AV Rated through Martindale-Hubbell. Notably, he was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
