Supported by more than 40 years of practiced experience in the field of law, Mr. Knox is a renowned figure in the legal arena whose expertise is unparalleled. From 1986 until his retirement in 2002, he served Anixter International, Inc., in Chicago, IL, as senior vice president of law. Prior to this illustrious role, he was the executive vice president and general counsel at Lone Star Steel Company in Dallas, TX, from 1980 to 1986, vice president of law at Northwestern Industries, Inc., in Chicago from 1970 to 1980, and associate and partner at Isham, Lincoln & Beale in Chicago from 1962 to 1970. He commenced his career as the law clerk to the Honorable Tom C. Clark in the United States Supreme Court in Washington, DC, from 1961 to 1962.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Mr. Knox served as general counsel for the Arris Group, Inc., from 1996 to 2002 and partner at Mayer, Brown & Platt, now known as Mayer Brown, in Chicago from 1992 to 1996. Much earlier in his career, he acted as an arbitrator for the National Railway Adjustment Board from 1967 to 1968 and an instructor of contracts and labor law at the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology from 1964 to 1969.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Knox pursued formal education at the University of Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1959. Thereafter, he attended Drake University, receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1961 and graduating in the Order of the Coif. He has since been admitted to practice law in the states of Iowa, Illinois and Texas. In addition, in an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within the industry, he has maintained affiliation with the Illinois Bar Association and Phi Beta Kappa.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Knox has accrued several accolades and honors. He has been highlighted in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the Midwest.
