Stanley D. Baum, Esq., Of Counsel at Cary Kane LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in employment law.
Practicing in the areas of ERISA, employee benefits, executive compensation and employment law for more than 30 years, Mr. Baum has been serving of counsel to Cary Kane LLP in New York City since 2013. Prior to this role, he acted as counsel to Eaton & Van Winkle LLP in 2009 and Dechert LLP from 2005 to 2008. Formerly holding the role of counsel at Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman LLP from 1998 to 2004, he commenced his career as a lawyer with Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP from 1988 to 1998. In addition to his primary endeavors, he is the co-chairperson of the labor and employment law section committee of the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Baum’s expertise includes drafting, amending and administering retirement plans, preparing summary plan descriptions and employee communications, and giving advice on ERISA fiduciary matters. For several years, he has authored the ERISA Lawyer Blog, a prominent blog which discusses ERISA, employment law, employee benefits and executive compensation. In addition, he has contributed myriad articles to professional journals.
The recipient of a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Baum also holds a Master of Laws from New York University. He is admitted to practice law in the state of New York, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Having advised multiple prestigious financial institutions and corporations, he has been recognized for his achievements multiple times. Published in the BNA Pension and Benefits Daily, the Journal of Taxation, the Journal of Pension Planning and the Nassau Lawyer, he was highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the World.
