Richard L. Rosen, a Lawyer at The Richard L. Rosen Law Firm, PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in franchise law.
When Mr. Rosen was young, his father was always regaling him with stories from his work as a lawyer. He found it very interesting, and ultimately decided to pursue it for himself. Mr. Rosen started his journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 1965 and a JD from New York Law School in 1968, after which he immediately got to work. He started out at his father’s small firm, Rosen, Wise, Felzen & Salomon, but his father suffered some health complications and decided to step down a year later. Mr. Rosen thanked his father for the opportunity and decided to go his own way because he wanted to be independent. Despite still being new to the industry, he felt that he was capable of opening his own practice because his clients told him they liked the way he did things. Mr. Rosen worked hard to prove himself and steadily grew within the field. Today, he is thriving at The Richard L. Rosen Law Firm, PLLC, where he focuses on franchise law.
Over the years, Mr. Rosen furthered his professional standing by becoming admitted to practice in the state of New York and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the United States District Court Southern District of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also earned a certificate from the New York University Real Estate Institute and became a licensed real estate broker.
One of the highlights of Mr. Rosen’s career was spending 10 years as the chairman of the Fair Franchising Standards Committee for the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers. He liked that it really gave him a chance to work with both franchisors and franchisees in compiling the fair franchising standards, which are still used today. Mr. Rosen shared what he learned in publications like “US Franchise Law Analysis, International Comparative Legal Guide to: Franchise,” “Franchising 101, The Complete Guide to Evaluating, Buying and Growing Your Franchise Business,” and “Sections on Franchise Laws in the United States, 3rd, 4th, 5th Editions.”
As a testament to his success, Mr. Rosen was named Franchise Lawyer of the Year in the United States by Lawyer Monthly, One of America’s 100 Best Franchise Lawyers by the Franchise Times, a Super Lawyers, and an AV-Rated Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, among other accolades. He was also honored with inclusion in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.
When Mr. Rosen isn’t working, he enjoys playing guitar, reading, a coaching youth soccer and track. He was a world-class athlete when he was young, and he enjoys sharing his passion with the younger generations. He was the Eastern States Lightweight Weightlifting Champion in 1968, the Pennsylvania Relays Gold Medalist in 1964, the Lightweight Football All Eastern Selection through the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Association between 1963 and 1964, and the New York State Track Champion in the Sprint Medley Relay in 1960.
