Lawrence Bechler, Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in municipal law.
Mr. Bechler was inspired to go into law coming from a family of prominent and well-established legal professionals. This influence helped him developed an interest in different facets of the career, including the areas of research and presenting arguments. Once he made the decision, it was final, and he has practiced law since 1977, when he became a partner at Jenswold, Studt, Hanson, Clark & Kaufman. He remained at this firm until 1993, where he then joined Murphy Desmond as a shareholder. He continues to provide his legal services in this capacity. Furthermore, Mr. Bechler has helped prepare future generations of legal professionals as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
In 1972, Mr. Bechler earned a Bachelor of Arts with distinction from Ohio State University. He continued at the institution to receive a Master of Arts before continuing his academic, and legal, pursuits at the University of Wisconsin. He earned a JD in 1977 from the institution and went into practice the very same year. He is admitted to practice via the Wisconsin State Bar, the US District court for the Western District of Wisconsin, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and the US Supreme Court. In 2015, he was the co-editor of “Urban Agriculture: Policy, Law, Strategy and Implementation.”
Mr. Bechler is a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a fellow of the Wisconsin Bar Foundation. In his career, he has maintained affiliation with these organizations as well as a variety of others. He has served as an elected chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin and has provided his services on the Board of Directors of the bar’s Administrative and Local Government Section. He has also maintained affiliation with the American Judicature Society, the International Municipal Lawyers Association and the Dane County Bar Association.
