Ronald Beard, Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in general business, mergers and acquisitions.
It was by chance that Mr. Beard took a class in constitutional law during his undergraduate studies that turned him on to a career in the legal profession. He had been studying at Dennison University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1961, and through that course was inspired to continue down the path to become a lawyer. In 1964, he graduated from Yale University with an LLB and was admitted to the State Bar of California and to the United States District Court Central District of California the very same year. In 1980, he was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Not long after graduating from law, he made partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in 1981, and remained at the firm throughout his career. In 1991, he was named managing partner and chairman of the firm. A highlight of his career was when he argued the appeal in the Memorex v. IBM anti-trust litigation. While the case was lost, Mr. Beard came away from it knowing he was proud of the work he put in to it. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the State Bar of California, the Coto de Caza Gold & Racquet Club and the Chancery Club.
Mr. Beard has served on the Board of Directors for the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and has been the chairman of Dennison University as well as a member of the Constitutional Rights Foundation and the California Minority Council Minority Council Program. In 2003, Mr. Beard published “The Amazing Mr. Silver” with the Dorrance Publishing Company. He has also served on the board for Callaway Gold and HealthCare USA.
