Concentrating his practice in the areas of personal injury, worker’s compensation and labor law, Mr. Malvik is a prominent attorney who has amassed more than 40 years of experience in the field. Since 2006, he has been a senior attorney with Winstein, Kavensky & Cunningham LLC, having also served as an authority commissioner for the Quad-City International Airport Authority since 2013. Prior to these illustrious roles, he was a partner at Williams, Malvik & Associates, PC, from 1989 to 2006, a commissioner with the Bi-State Regional Planning Commission from 1996 to 2010, a District 18 representative for the Rock Island County Board from 1996 to 2010, and a sole practitioner between 1980 and 1989.
Mr. Malvik previously served in myriad other roles, having been an assistant state’s attorney with Rock Island County, an instructor at Black Hawk College, an assistant public defender with Rock Island County, and a partner at Braud, Warner, Neppl & Westensee Ltd. Likewise, he served Rock Island County in a plethora of positions, including chairman of the human resources committee, chairman of the fees and salaries committee, chairman of the legislative committee, and finance and member of the economic development committee. He has additionally been a lecturer in the field at such schools as Augustana College and Black Hawk College.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Malvik pursued formal education at Augustana College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English education in 1971. Thereafter, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the College of Law at DePaul University in 1974. He has since been admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Central and Northern Districts of Illinois, and the Supreme Court of Illinois. He is additionally a court-certified arbitrator and mediator, as well as a certified secondary education teacher.
The former chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association, Mr. Malvik has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations in an effort to remain aware of industry changes. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Beta Omega Sigma, the Rock Island County Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice, among others.
As a testament to his profound success, Mr. Malvik was honored with the Meritorious Service Award and received a Letter of Commendation from the Illinois State Bar Association. He has further been selected for inclusion in the Leading Lawyers Network for Illinois, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the World and Men of Achievement.
