Supported by more than 45 years of professional excellence in the field of law, Mr. Saliterman is a prominent and distinguished lawyer who has been serving Saliterman & Siefferman, PC, as president since 1975. In his unique position, he focuses his practice on business litigation, wills, estate and probate litigation and planning, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, trademark law and personal and business complex legal problem resolution, among other practice areas. Throughout his career, he has represented small proprietors to small- to mid-ranged businesses and individuals in a variety of intricate cases, showcasing his versatility and determination in the field.
Prior to this illustrious role, Mr. Saliterman served six years on the board of directors of the Minneapolis Urban League, having also been the past chair of the Hennepin Lawyer Committee and on the board of directors of the Hennepin County Bar Association. The former secretary and trustee of the W. Harry Davis Foundation and the Hopkins Schools Education Foundation, he also served 12 years as secretary and board member of the Pavek Museum. Previously, Mr. Saliterman also was the national judge advocate and national board member of the Navy League of the United States in Washington, DC, and a commentator and responder for the Ford Foundation Study on Government Regulation of Business. Notably, he served six years as an adjunct professor of law at the Hamline University School of Law and was a guest lecturer at the University of Minnesota School of Business. He commenced his career as a member of the legal staff for the subcommittee on antitrust and monopoly with the United States Senate, having subsequently served as the acting and deputy director of the compliance and enforcement division of the U.S. Federal Energy Office and military attorney of the Presidential Clemency Board in the White House.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Saliterman pursued formal education at Harvard University, where he completed coursework in the history of United States diplomacy and the development of constitutional concepts in 1965. In 1968, he received a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota. Thereafter, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Columbia Law School in 1971 and completed coursework at the United States Naval Justice School in 1972. Earning a Master of Laws from New York University School of Law two years later, he concluded his education in 2006, becoming a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizens Academy. Subsequently, he was admitted to the Minnesota State and District of Columbia Bars, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota and the United States Court of Military Appeals.
A United States Navy veteran, Mr. Saliterman fulfilled a 3-year commitment as a lieutenant with the U.S. Navy JAG Corps during the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1975. He has additionally served as a presenter and lecturer to continuing legal education seminars and has authored and co-authored myriad publications regarding corporate, business and real estate law. The author of “Advising Minnesota Corporations and Other Business Organizations,” whose first edition was published in 1995, he also published several articles to professional journals and book reviews.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Saliterman has accrued multiple accolades over the years. AV-Rated through Martindale-Hubbell for many years, he was named a 5 Star Professional in Estate Planning Magazine and was honored with the Distinguished Service to the Community Award by the Hennepin County Sheriff in 2016. Notably, he has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
