Roderick Paul Bushnell, Partner at Bushnell & Caplan, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in employment and labor law.
Demonstrating nearly 50 years of professional excellence in the legal industry, Mr. Bushnell is an esteemed lawyer who has been serving as partner with Bushnell & Caplan since 2012. In his position, he focuses his practice on employment counseling, mediation, arbitration and litigation. Trying several employment cases on behalf of employees in high-ranking corporations, he has involved himself in many matters of television, radio and entertainment and tried a landmark sexual harassment case against the Chief of Police of San Francisco. Previously, he was a partner of his predecessor firm, Bushnell Caplan & Fielding from 1971 to 2012 and an attorney with the Department of Water Resources in Sacramento, CA, from 1969 to 1971.
Mr. Bushnell has contributed to seminars on employment and labor law at the Practicing Law Institute with the San Francisco Bar Association and the California Employment Lawyers Association. Civically, he was formerly a board member of the California Lawyers for the Arts and former chairman of the board of Bread and Roses. He has contributed myriad articles to esteemed journals in his field of expertise in an effort to share his wealth of knowledge.
Mr. Bushnell holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Georgetown University. A board-certified civil trial advocate, he has been admitted to practice in the state of California, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In an effort to remain aware of recent developments within the industry, Mr. Bushnell has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations and societies, such as the labor and employment sections of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the San Francisco Bar Association. Additionally, he was an arbitrator with the San Francisco Superior Court and an early neutral evaluator of the United States District Court, having also been a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association.
As a testament to his professional success, Mr. Bushnell was named a Northern California Super Lawyer by Law and Politics for 10 consecutive years. In addition, he has been highlighted in the first edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America and multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
