William Robert Seligmann, Senior Attorney/City Attorney of Campbell, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in state and government, land use, eminent domain and inverse condemnation law.
When it was nearing the time to choose a vocation Mr. Seligmann originally intended to go into politics and springboard from there. As it turned out, he became a city attorney which is an appointed political official rather than running for office. It was a position he thought he could do well in knowing he had refined public speaking and writing skills to match the appointed office’s needs. Early in his career, he worked as an associate at the Office of J.R. Dempster. In 1985, he became a partner of Dempster, Seligmann & Raineri, as well as a city attorney. He stayed at the firm until 2001, where he has since been in private practice.
Mr. Seligmann began his legal pursuits by earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara at 1979. Following this, he received a JD from Santa Clara University in 1982. In 1983, he was admitted to the California State Bar. In addition to his legal services, Mr. Seligmann is well-known for his contributions to legal writing. On top of contributing to numerous publications, he has also reviewed such works as the California Municipal Law Handbook.
Throughout his career, Mr. Seligmann has maintained professional affiliation with a variety of organizations. These include being a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the State Bar of California and the California League Cities. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce. When not practicing law, he enjoys cross-country skiing, scuba diving, swimming, writing and Aikido.
