Backed by more than five decades of professional experience, Mr. Concoff is an esteemed attorney who has been serving Rufus-Isaacs, Acland & Grantham LLP for several years in the areas of domestic and international film and television production and financing. With extensive experience in the negotiation, documentation and structuring of transactions regarding the financial aspects of film and television, he has spent years representing investors, lenders, producers and distributors. In addition, he has also represented motion picture talent, including actors, directors and writers in conjunction with negotiation and agreement documentation.
Prior to this illustrious role, Mr. Concoff served as a partner of numerous firms, including Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, Sidley Austin LLP, and Kaplan, Livingston, et al., between 1965 and 1995. He commenced his career as an associate with O’Melveny & Myers LLP in 1962. Alongside his primary endeavors, he served as an adjunct professor and law lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1980 to 1982, as well as founder and co-chair of the Entertainment Symposium at the University of California, Los Angeles, between 1976 and 1978. Additionally, he has acted as a speaker, moderator, organizer and co-chair of several programs with the Cannes Film Festival and contributed myriad articles to professional journals.
Mr. Concoff holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard University. Named Outstanding Practitioner of the Year by the School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, he also holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 Superb Rating by Avvo, Inc. However, the highlight of his career was when he served as lead copyright and secured transactions counsel for the appellant in In re National Peregrine, Inc., et al. v. Capital Federal Savings (11 UCC Rep. Serv.2d 1025). Since the adjudication of the case, the media industry has been practicing under the influence of its outcome.
