Amassing more than six decades of professional experience, Mr. Pershan is a prominent attorney whose vast wealth of knowledge has propelled him to be a renowned figure in his field. Serving of counsel at Sullivan & Worcester LLP in New York City since 2009, he previously acted of counsel and as partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, formerly known as LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, between 1986 and 2009. Prior to these illustrious roles, he was a partner at Finch & Schaefler from 1960 to 1985 and associate at Davis, Polk & Wardwell from 1956 to 1960. Equally passionate about his community, he has served as counsel to the Fine Arts Federation and Municipal Art Society between 1965 and 1980.
Mr. Pershan holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Yale University. He has been admitted to practice law in the state of New York, as well as before the United States Supreme Court. While studying toward his law degree, he served to first lieutenant in the United States Air Force between 1951 and 1953.
A member of the New York City Bar Association and the Yale Club of New York City, Mr. Pershan has shared his expertise by contributing myriad articles and studies to the American College of Trust and Estate Council, and he also served the organization as an editor and fellow. Attributing his success to his father-in-law, Leon Schaefler, Mr. Pershan considers the highlight of his career to have been winning the case “The Matter of King” in the New York State Court of Appeals in 1968, which was finalized by the United States Supreme Court. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of law, he has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
