Bruce John Hector, Mediator at Accordance LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal industry.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Hector is an esteemed lawyer and company executive who has been serving as the president and founder of Accordance LLC since 2011, having previously served Becton Dickinson & Company in several capacities, including chief litigation counsel from 2005 to 2011, associate general counsel from 1992 to 2011, senior attorney from 1987 to 1991, and attorney from 1981 to 1987. Prior to these roles, he was an associate at Hill, Ribkins, et al., in New York City from 1975 to 1981 and Podvey & Sachs in Newark, NJ, from 1974 to 1975. Likewise, he has been a mediator for a number of entities, including the AAA New Jersey Sandy Mediation Program, in U.S. bankruptcy in the Eastern District of New York, the Southern District of New York, the New York Supreme Court and the New Jersey Supreme Court.
A lecturer in the field, Mr. Hector has additionally served his community in numerous ways, including as a trustee of the New Jersey Lawsuit Reform Alliance from 2006 to 2009. In addition, he was chairman of the development committee at the Village School for Children from 2002 to 2004 and a leader of explorer law post with the Boy Scouts of America from 1985 to 1988. A contributor of articles to professional journals, he has also authored “Selected Ethical Issues in Mediation & Settlement Negotiations” and “Mediating a Products Liability Case.”
Mr. Hector holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of the Holy Cross and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from New York University. He has been admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey, as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits, the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
In order to remain aware of recent developments within the industry, Mr. Hector has maintained affiliation with several organizations throughout his career, such as the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association, where he served as president from 2002 to 2003, president-elect from 1999 to 2001, secretary from 1997 to 1999, and on the board of directors from 1995 to 1997. A former trustee of the New Jersey Lawsuit Reform Alliance and inside-outside counsel of Litigation Grove, he also is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association, where he holds the role of vice president.
In his spare time, Mr. Hector is a passionate jazz guitarist who has played at clubs and restaurants throughout the state of New Jersey. Featured on iTunes and YouTube, he has produced “Moonrise” in 2012 and “Three’s a Crowd” in 2018. Married to Carol Ann Seely since 1974, he is the proud father of one son, James Henry.
